In a parallel non-syntactic delight, a sign on the ground floor entrance of my company's office reads:

     RECEIVING:  FIRST FLOOR
     RECEPTION:  SECOND FLOOR

My mental box for all such peculiar irregularities of English is labeled "Pity the Foreigner".
