rickshaw<--Japanese?

It is not clear who invented the rickshaw/jinrikisha. The theory most
commonly cited is that the inventor was not Japanese but was an American
missionary, the Reverend Jonathan Scobie, who needed a conveyance for his
invalid wife. If this story be true, then it is possible, and perhaps
probable, that the Scobies coined the word "jinrikisha" to have a name for
their vehicle. In this case, one wonders if the anglicization "rickshaw"
became widespread before the proper Japanese "jinrikisha".

What nautical influence caused the Supreme Court case on abortion to be
labelled "row versus wade"?
