On the newscasts here in the Chicago area, it's almost always pronounced -tis,
which has always struck me as odd (I grew up near Austin, Texas, where it was
-tes).  The nurses at my doctor's office both say -tis, but my doctor says -tes
(she is from the South).  Could it be related to north vs. south?
