Subway survivor David Shulman in NY Times

   From the NEW YORK TIMES, Tuesday, July 24, 2001, pg. B3, col. 3:

   David Shulman, up the road at 34th Street, looked at signs that still said that B's and D's were going to places they were no longer going and announced: "In my 88 years of subway riding--well, subtract for childhood, of course--the subway has never been more confusing."

   Shulman said it happened by accident.  The interviewer did not know that he'd been profiled in the Times before.
   Shulman told me that, because of his health, he won't join me in Poland.  But if Shulman can get through the subway every day...
