Texas Chewie Pecan Praline (Lammes Candies)

   While in Austin, Texas, I stopped by Lammes Candies (www.lammes.com).  Their most famous item is the "Texas Chewie" pecan praline, first made in 1892.
   OED should add this "pecan praline" to "praline."
   Lammes opened in 1885 and served "gem" (a frozen fruit dessert made from whole milk, similar to sherbet).  Was this a generic dessert name?  (See www.lammes.com/about_lammes_php.)
