Which is a problem with a lot of movie dialog that persists in culture.
It's like "play it again, Sam" or "Elementary, my dear Watson". Do you
accurately quote the source or do you quote the common usage?
Of course as much fun as this is, it's been pointed out that technically
what we're slinging around isn't exactly slang, more a kind of cultural
shorthand, I guess. Although, someone once tongue-in-cheek described the
difference between slang and idiom as slang having about a 99.9% chance of
being offensive.
Knew a lot of cops who referred to Hispanics as Chewys (Chewbacca) after
Star Wars came out, which certainly fits the above description as far as
being offensive goes.
