To add to the confusion about iceboxes versus refrigerators:

The 6th Edition (1912) of _The "Settlement" Cook Book_ contains two
advertisements from manufacturers of "refrigerators", namely Kiefer-Haessler
Hardware Co. and McCray Referigerator Co., both of Milwaukee. There is no
way of telling from the ads whether these are mechanical refrigerators or
merely iceboxes.

Also, as a period piece, there is an ad for "Hoover Suction Sweepers", sold
by the Hoover Suction Sweeper Co. of New Berlin, Ohio. (MWCD10 gives 1903
for "vacuum cleaner").
