   Greetings from Honolulu!
   Monday is President's Day, so the State Library is closed Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.  I hate when this happems.  Hey, New Year's Day is a holiday.  Why not close all year?...The Hawaiian Historical Society's Library is under renovation through March...The Local Waikiki library was closed today, also...The University of Hawaii's library was open only until five p.m.  There are about 200 or so books under "Cookery--Hawaiian."  Make your requests now.

SHAVE ICE--This is sold all over.  In New York City, it's called Italian Ices or Snow Cones.  Why Shave Ice?  Not _Shaved_ Ice?

Girl's Day--March 3.
Boy's Day--May 5.  A local bakery had a sign for "Girl's Day Cake."  It's a Japanese bakery here.

PAC5 Sandwich--A meat-filled sandwich offered at the bakery, but I haven't seen it anywhere else in a quic Google.
