Golem

The Golem is well known in German expressionist films and literature. See e.g. the Austrian-German novelist
Gustav Meyrink's (1868-1932), "Der Golem" (1914, has been translated into English) and Paul Wegener's three films (1914, 1917 and 1920), of which the last one became a movie classic.
