Dominant languages in the world

I have a dim memory of reading somewhere that of the many thousands of
languages existing in the world today, only about 200 will be around by
the beginning of the next century, and that two centuries hence the
number will be further reduced to an amazingly low seven. English, of
course, will be one of the seven; Spanish, I believe, will be another.
Does anyone know all seven, or the original source of this information?
