OED has 1962 for "food stamps." The citations appear to be British.
I've said many times that OED is can be awful, but this is really awful. Food stamps. Just about ANYONE who lives in America (Not a scholar! ANYONE!) and has gone to the supermarket knows that "food stamp" is older than 1962.
There was a Great Depression and then a war, later called World War II, and the government started issuing food stamps...
