Circus slang, 1879--Query about "Tamshack"

Barry Popik sent a 6/28/2003 ads-l message on circus slang,
reprinting an item from the _Cincinnati Enquirer_ (7 September 1879,
p. 10, col. 7).
One of the items ("Tamshack"?-- = whisky) is unclearly printed. Would
anyone be familiar with the term and how it should really be spelled?

The sentence in which the word appears in the article is:
"Lush, Budge, Bilge-water, Tamshack [?--B. Popik], Fire-water,
Tangle-foot, Elixir, Dew-bowl, and various other terms denote whisky."

Might the term really be "Ramshack," with reference to the
dilapidated feeling one might get after drinking too much rot-gut?

Any assistance would be much appreciated.
