Rec rage on the rise in county

Experts say stress from work reaching to trails, campgrounds

Tammy Decker and a girlfriend escaped sweltering downtown Denver for a summer
day of hiking in Boulder County's high country, but they became embroiled in
a heated dispute over a parking spot at a trailhead.

"It wasn't even the mall at Christmas," Decker, 40, said.

Recreational rage, a sibling to the well-documented outbursts of anger on the
nation's roadways known as road rage, is becoming more common at Boulder
County campgrounds and trails, authorities report. . . .
