Query: Etymology of Australia's Capital "Canberra"

Various sources including E. Britannica give the original settlement name
as Canberry or Canbury, supposedly derived from a local indigenous
('aborigine') language ... said at the Canberra Tourism Web site and
elsewhere to be from a word "kamberra" meaning "meeting place".
