I have just seen the new(?) vol. 6 of the Cambridge History of the English Language: English in America, John A. Algeo, ed.  This has scattered references to the Irish influennce on AmEngl, but pp. 89-92, in Michael Montgomery's chapter "British and Irish Antecedents" discusses the Irish language.

The book is ostensibly a 2001 imprint, but has just been received here.
