glad to provide you with fodder for your writing and speaking.
you might have detected, amidst the more entertaining bits of my
posting, a deep moral outrage.  (who knew it would come to this?
well, it has.  i'm trying not to sound like a loony.)

but, oh dear, you suggest that i should go back and look at what
the manuals say about cataphora.  cataphora is certainly the favored
fix for PAP violations, and i knew it was generally disfavored.  but
you suggest that some manuals actually issue a blanket condemnation
of it.  yet another search.  i wish i had some *staff*.

arnold, finding that this topic opens up endlessly
  (and fearing the time it will take to write the piece on
  proscriptionism and polical/economic/social/cultural conservatism,
  which i blocked out one morning in santa cruz)
