There is a mention of "Fung-Shui" in a review of a 19th c. travel book in the
Atlantic Monthly, November 1879, denoting it as "an obscure branch of
demonology . . . the influence of the genius loci for good or evil, and again
as the vague effort of the Chinese mind to construct a science of nature, or a
theory of the universe." I came across it online at
