"Inventor of Angel Cake" (1899)

   Here's that "inventor of angel cake dead" article, as mentioned in my "dream cake" post.  The inventor's name is Linus W. Dexter.  Perhaps THE BAKER will have a larger obituary.  The NYPL has it off-site (of course).
   No one knows any of this stuff.  There's only one hit on GOOGLE, and it's a family tree.

  Inventor of Angel Cake Dead.; The Washington Post (1877-1954), Washington, D.C.; Feb 18, 1899; pg. 3, 1 pgs:
   New York, Feb. 17.--Linus W. Dexter, aged eighty-six, a wealthy resident of Plainfield, N. J., died at his hime to-night from pneumonia.  He was the originator of "angel cake."  A baker by trade, he laid the foundation of his fortune in the confectionary and fancy bakery business in New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Boston.
