1940 Raymond S. Stites _The Arts and Man_ 737  The example of futurist
painting entitled Side Wheeler ( Fig. 576 ), by Lyonel Feininger (now in
the Detroit Institute of Art), furnishes one of the finest examples of the
style, here chosen because of its transitional character to that related
movement in German art known as "abstract expressionism."
