weather underground, weatherman -- OED has 1972

Harvard Crimson, July 02, 1970
"The Weatherman Declaration of War that came out of the Underground a couple
of weeks ago said to look for the Weathermen all over America."

They supposedly took their name from Bob Dylan's song "Subterranean Homesick
Blues", "You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows." I
seem to recall reading that at about the time they first hit the news.

The song was released on the LP "Bringing It All Back Home" in May 1965,
according to http://www.bobdylan.com/songs/subterranean.html and
http://www.tiscali.co.uk/music/biography/bob_dylan_discography.html.
