Here (from N'archive) is "jasbo" apparently meaning "bozo"/"dummy":

----------

_Edwardsville Intelligencer_ (Edwardsville IL), 10 March 1914: p. 2(?):

[Comic strip]

<<I KNEW A JASBO ONCE WHO READ ABOUT A CHAP GETTING PAID $5,000. DAMAGES
FOR BEING STRUCK BY AN AUTO AND THINKING IT WAS EASY MONEY /

HE TRIED IT. -- WAITED UNTIL HE SAW AN EXPENSIVE LOOKING CAR (WITH A SOFT
RADIATOR) AND ACCIDENTALLY STEPPED IN FRONT AND /

THE PARTY THEN STOPPED THEIR CAR, CAME BACK AND GATHERED HIM TOGETHER -- HE
WAS SPILLED ALL OVER THE ROAD AND /

THINKING HIM DEAD AND NOT CARING TO SPEND THE REST OF THEIR LIVES IN JAIL
-- THEY CHUCKED THE JASBO IN THE BACK OF THE TONNEAU AND -- /

BEAT IT RIGHT PAST THE HOSPITAL ON OUT INTO THE COUNTRY WHERE THEY SPEEDED
UP TO 72 AND THEN DROPPED THE MUSSED UP HUMAN OVER A CONVENIENT FENCE AND
KEPT RIGHT ON GOING -- /

AND THE JASBO DECORATED THE SPOT WHERE HE LIT FOR TWO DAYS IN A MUCH
COMEE-JOSE CONDITION AND ONLY CAME TO -- WHEN A SQUIRREL NIBBLED THE END OF
HIS NOSE FOR A NUT AND AS HE /

HAD FORGOTTEN THE NUMBER OF THE CAR -- HE WAS OBLIGED TO PASS UP HIS $5,000
DAMAGE SUIT AND GO GET HIM AN HONEST JOB>>
