Kathleen Miller in New York Times

        As Barry has already noted, our own Kathleen Miller, who over the years has done so much research for William Safire's On Language column in the New York Times Sunday Magazine, today wrote the column and has it by-lined in her own name.  It's online at http://www.nytimes.com/2004/09/12/magazine/12ONLANGUAGE.html.  It's about time that her fine work received a little recognition.

        Kathleen, I note that the magazine describes you as "a former research associate for this column."  While I suspect that that's a development in keeping with your own career goals, experience shows that the column suffers when you aren't around to keep an eye on it.
