OED probably had to use the 1960 date for the notes to the 1960 copyrighted work. This was probably not an error; it's certainly not misleading.

Jeez, I must have looked into "zydeco" ten years ago...It would help to be able to use the Peter Tamony collection again, but this $25-a-word business just isn't going to bring any business to the Western Historical Manuscript Collection at the University of Missouri-Columbia. You can buy a whole book for $25.
