[Fred Shapiro]

John Dennis was famously quoted in Gentleman's Magazine in 1781: "A man
who could make so vile a pun would not scruple to pick a pocket."  What
was the exact date within the year for the issue in which this appeared
(Bartlett's gives a page number of 324)?  And what was the pun objected
to?
