When I was a kid, black speakers in St. Louis generally pronounced
"Buick" in the same manner as white people. However, there were some
few who pronounced this word [byurIk]. Usually, this kind of thing
happens only across word boundaries, e.g. "my r'affairs, my r'eyes." I
haven't heard anyone say "Burick" recently, but I do hear people say
"froo, prooss, croo, Broorick, vroo" instead of "few, puce, cue,
Buick, view."
