My son told me yesterday that he and his buddies were engaging in a triathalon; my principal calls my colleague Kathaleen; and many kids in our school speak of athaletes; a lady at my church sells property--she's a realator.
Another cool word for this is svarabhakti. When discussing Old High German, we often use the term "Sprossvokal," sprout(ing) vowel.

FWIW, Dutch also has 'fillum' and the like.

Another word for this vowel-epenthesis is _anaptyxis_, apparently. Isn't
that a cute word? Maybe not used every day by some of us laymen. [Sometimes
pronounced "anapatickasis"? (^_^)]
