There are no jug-handle turns in Utah, but I have seen
them - I just can't remember where - maybe Denver,
maybe Rapid City. They are not the same as the
Michigan-left described. A jug-handle turn is a mini
off-ramp, a structure built as part of the road
system: you go through the intersection, turn RIGHT
into the "jug handle" and keep turning right through
270 degrees, ending up on the desired street and
heading the same direction as though having made a
left turn. You still need to cross the road you
started from, but there is usually a traffic light to
facilitate that.

BTW, for the Michigan left to work, doesn't the first
turn need to be a U-turn rather than a simple left?
There's one intersection here in SLC where I often
make a left by going through the intersection, making
a U-turn, returning to the intersection, and turning
right. Sounds like a "Michigan" left to me.
