The NCAA "Frozen Four" is now on ESPN. I'm guessing that Florida is not
going to win this one.
...
I keep looking for Jessica Alba, but maybe she's in the Fantastic Four.
...
The NCAA has trademarked this term, but "Frozen Four" appears to date from
1997. Anyone have FACTIVA to check? Did someone from the Boston College area
coin this?

The Frozen Four is the trademarked name of the final two rounds of the _NCAA
 Division I championship_
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NCAA_Men's_Ice_Hockey_Championship) of _ice hockey_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ice_hockey) in
the _USA_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States) . Schools advance in a
single-elimination tournament from four regional sites to a single site,
where the national semifinals and final game are played. The NCAA started a
_Women's Frozen Four_
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NCAA_Women's_Ice_Hockey_Championship) beginning in the _2000_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2000) -_01_
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2001) season.
In _2006_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006) , the men's version will take
place at the _Bradley Center_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bradley_Center)
in _Milwaukee_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milwaukee,_Wisconsin) , with the
_University of Maine_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Maine) ,
_Boston College_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boston_College) , _University of
North Dakota_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_North_Dakota) and
_University of Wisconsin_
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Wisconsin) locked in compete for the Division-I ice hockey title. The first
semifinal will feature the Boston College Eagles taking on the North Dakota Fighting
Sioux at 3 p.m. while the Maine Black Bears will take on the Wisconsin
Badgers in the second semifinal at 8 p.m. on April 6. The women's version was held
at _Mariucci Arena_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mariucci_Arena) on the
campus of the _University of Minnesota_
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Minnesota) in _Minneapolis_
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minneapolis,_Minnesota) . The Badgers women's team were 3-0 victors over the Golden Gophers
of Minnesota to claim their first-ever Frozen Four title.
The 2005 men's semifinals, at _Value City Arena_
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Value_City_Arena) on the campus of _Ohio State University_
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ohio_State_University) in _Columbus_
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Columbus,_Ohio) , pitted defending champion _Denver_
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Denver) against _Colorado College_
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colorado_College) and _Minnesota_
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Minnesota_Twin_Cities) against _North Dakota_
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_North_Dakota) . Denver defeated North Dakota in
the championship game to win their second straight National Championship. The
2005 women's final, held at the _Whittemore Center_
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whittemore_Center) on the campus of the _University of New Hampshire_
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_New_Hampshire) in _Durham, New
Hampshire_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Durham,_New_Hampshire) , matched
defending champion _Minnesota_
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Minnesota) with 2004 runnerup _Harvard_
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harvard_University) , with the _Gophers_
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minnesota_Golden_Gophers) successfully defending their title with a 4-3 win.
The Frozen Four, though not called as such, began in _1948_
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1948) when _Michigan_
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Michigan) defeated _Dartmouth_
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dartmouth_College) . The first 10 championships were played at the _Broadmoor Arena_
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broadmoor_Arena) in _Colorado Springs_
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colorado_Springs,_Colorado) . Since then, sites rotate as
chosen by the NCAA Division I ice hockey committee. The tournament was first
referred to as the "Frozen Four" in _1999_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1999)
, and previous tournaments were retroactively renamed.
