Eggcorns being a hot commodity here, perhaps the following may be of interest:

  1850 "Gregory SEAWORTHY" [George Higby Throop] Bertie (Phila.: A. Hart, 1851) 78: "Thrue as the tin commandhers!" "Git aout!"

  Unless it's just a joke, the putative "ten commanders" not being necessarily true at all.  Quite a puzzlement, eggcorn fiends!
