beginning of the 20th century

I didn't read every posting in this thread.  But, it seems to me that
there were several other landmark event which were quite important that
might be considered the beginning of the 20th century: the Wright's
flights (esp. aerodrome, aerial war, aero-liner, etc.), atomic energy,
bomb, Boy Scout, brassiere, Teddy bears, jazz, etc.  This is not to
belittle the impact of WWI but only to point out that when the great sea
change of the modern and changing world and the beginning of any century
is a matter of one's point of view.  Sorry if this rambling seems out of
place or trivial.
