What does Fred have for this phrase? How could Lenny  have said it in 1972
(Saturday Review) when he died in 1966? Couldn't the  quotation books
(Simpson's, American Heritage) point this out to  readers?

Just an update for this phrase. I was searching Google for "old Florida
saying" and my old work popped up. It's earlier as "sweet potatoes" instead of
"yams."
