1816 _The Farmer's Magazine_ (Making of the Modern Economy)  Had any
statistician, who holds the genuine doctrine of nature, that _a high
average rate of price tends to enrich a nation, and to increase its
comforts_, been cruel enough, as a theorist, to have wished for a complete
confirmation of his doctrine, by an exemplification of the effects of a
too low rate of price, he has obtained it in the history of the last nine
months.
