Zapaturistas (Sp.)/Zapatourists (Engl.)

at stanford's linguistics graduate ceremony yesterday, i chatted with
one of our grad students, who was preparing to return to Chiapas to
do fieldwork there.  i asked her about the political situation -- one
of her previous trips had been canceled because of the intensity of
the Zapatista conflict at the time -- and she replied that things
were generally calmer now, though the region was somewhat afflicted
by Zapaturistas, left-wing tourists who come to view the conflict
zone.  i was much taken with the lovely combination of "Zapatista"
and "turista".
