You're right about "Hip, hip, hurray !" but I don't recall anyone ever setting it up in real life, at least not in my experience.

  I was thinking of perfectly spontaneous situations where one emits his or her own yell of choice.

I believe that most people in the USA have been accustomed to 'hip, hip,
hooray,' for many years.
