"Airstrip"??? (Was "Ih-slip", I say "Aye-slip")

Now there's a vision!
I _do_ know what you mean, but to mind immediately sprang, upon
reading 'airstrip', a concept of some odd (possibly obscene) show in a
plane, then to something akin to air guitar or air drumming. I must
admit, the former concept appealed to the imagination more than did either
of the latter!

The news in Boston was air service initiated from Logan in Boston to
"Ihslip", Long Island, known (as someone wrote earlier) mostly for
its airstrip.
