The whippersnapper community will wish to know that all these Howdy Doody songs went to the tune of the 1891 supersmash, "Ta-ra-ra Boom-de-ay!"

That's the version I remember, from Louisville KY in the 1950's.

Now for a serious question:  are these two parodies independent inventions?  If not, then through what mechanism did a parody of the Howdy Doody theme song spread clear across the country in less than a decade?
