i'd guess the band name was chosen on the basis of the expression,
but i don't know anything about the band.

"MILF" seems  to have been popularized by the 1999 movie American
Pie, but was around for some time before that.

as for bands, the british indie dance band EMF (80s, early 90s)
originally toured with D.J. Milf, whose name was probably chosen for
its suggestive possibilities.

there's now a British band called Milf (from Bradford), formed in 2000.

then there's the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (in the Philippines),
known as MILF for short -- surely with no suggestive intent.

"FILF" (for use by women and gay men) has been coined on the model of
"MILF".

there's probably a lot more to be found on the web, sprinkled in
there among the porn sites.
