As we approach the annual conference, it's time to nudge everyone on
the list who enjoys the conversations here but is not yet a member of
the American Dialect Society: Please consider joining ADS.
Founded in 1889, ADS has always been open to academic and independent
scholars, students, and interested laypeople. Individuals can join
for a very modest $50. Students can subscribe for $25. Join your
colleagues, your friends, and the great American English scholars of
history here:
http://www.dukeupress.edu/americanspeech/
In return for your membership, you will receive four issues each year
of the learned journal "American Speech," which contains academic
research on American English, book reviews, the long-running column
"Among the New Words," notes from the editor, and interesting
miscellanea. See a recent table of contents here:
http://americanspeech.dukejournals.org/current.dtl
ADS membership is the same as subscribing to the journal American
Speech. If you subscribe, you're a member. If you're a member, you
have a subscription.
Thank you!
