"Weiner schnitzel" is not the only food mis-spelling. The 1893 Reno Evening
Gazette advertised "Tom Fraker's world renowned hamberger sandwiches."

Using the new, improved :)  Newspaperarchive, you can find "hamberger" steak
in Oregon in 1888.  Sunday Oregonian, 22 July 1888.
