Lick-Her Licence (1993, 2001); Google News (two Paris stories)

Knowledgeable insiders insist that the willowy scofflaw may win the top spot on the 2012 Dem or GOP national ticket. They're buzzing that she's _not_ just an airhead anymore. "Paris has that unbelievable power to connect with people," said one source, "and her current jail term only helps her by developing an exciting new rebel _cachet_. Paris Hilton will be the hip, sexy, and sartorially smart chief executive who'll project exactly the image that foreign lands have learned to expect from America. Even her name, 'Paris,' tells people to get ready for a kind of diplomatic savvy not seen in the White House in many years!"

And when her 45 minutes of fame is up -- she's already _way_ beyond
a normal person's 15-minute equivalent -- she'll no longer be 'in'
and will, we can only hope, be out of sight, too ... and not a moment
too soon!

Both stories are correct. The sheriff ordered her released without
consulting the judge; the judge then (rather angrily) ordered her back to
jail.
