"Student teach" is a little peculiar, right?
Sure, it seems a natural back-formation to those of us who've seen it and
heard it for a few decades, but where are the analogous expressions? [No
doubt I'm missing some in my ignorance, but still ....]
Next week I'll be a student teacher. > Next week I'll student teach.
OK, so what about ...
Next week I'll be a trainee waiter. > Next week I'll trainee wait.
Next week I'll be an apprentice welder. > Next week I'll apprentice weld.
Next week I'll be a gentleman farmer. > Next week I'll gentleman farm.
Or even ...
Next week I'll be a student driver. > Next week I'll student drive.
