I did a quick search in the Pacific Stars & Stripes database at
ancestry.com. There was a hit for 8/20/47, but, as far as I can tell, it
was a false positive. The earliest definite hit I found was in the
2/5/52 edition in which a pilot who had served in the Pacific in WW2 and
was then serving in Korea is quoted as saying, "As they say in the Far
East, it's 'sameo-sameo' here in Korea."
