So is this sense a later use than Natalie Angier's of 2000, where
instead of people with pot she has monkeys with millipedes?

Like marijuana cigarettes, the millipedes are shared:  "The monkeys
engage in rubdowns practically en masse, passing a single millipede
from one to another."
