Up here in the Great White North, it's not uncommon to hear an [E] in
"thing" -- I use it on occasion. (It may be more of an Alberta thing
than an Otnario thing; I haven't been taking notes on it lately.) It
doesn't show up consistently in other -ing words, though; for
instance, it's not familiar to me in "bring".
