Also transliterated as "ghaur" or "ghawr", where "gh" represents the
voiced velar fricative ("ghain"). Hans Wehr defines "ghaur" as
"bottom; declivity; depression; depth (also fig.)." "Al Ghaur" is
defined as a "designation of that part of the Syrian Graben which
constitutes the Jordan valley."
