~ (UNCLASSIFIED)

Tom Zurinskas truespel at HOTMAIL.COM

My first cut at the truespel dictionary was with the American Heritiage, then later additions were with m-w.com. I didn't do word to word comparing, but my experience is that they are practically identical. There is a standard USA pronunciation.

You make me wonder about comparing words with the "awe" phoneme in them. My feeling is that m-w.com favors awe-dropping. The word "boss" for instance in m-w.com is spoken ~baas. But toss and loss are "awe" words, ~taus, ~laus. Not very consistent.

"Talking" dictionaries are a fairly recent phenomenon. Wonderful. Talk on the internet as well. I apparently am the only person to talk in this forum. We should do it more. Anybody got a good way?
