"recrimination" = lachrymose apology?

CNN voiceover says, "And then came the recriminations."  We see Gov. Sanford
saying sadly, "I hurt you all. I hurt my wife. I hurt my boys....All I can
say is, I apologize....I let down a lot of people. That's the bottom line."

Actual bottom line: no "recriminations."
