Of course, among Americans it is called "Pope's Day", and it is
celebrated as a victory in which the Protestant Parliament and church
were preserved from a Catholic plot.  It has been employed by
"commonwealthmen," rebels against an oppressive imperial government,
throughout the century, notably in the decade before the Revolution.

But I admit "Popers" doesn't have the same ring.
