[Stephen Goranson]

James Iver McKay (17 July 1792-15 Sept 1853), NC Dem., won election to
Congress
in 1831, and eventually was chair of the Ways and Means Committee. He, Sen.
Haywood, and President Polk all attended UNC-Chapel Hill.
