"Hanoi Jane"

There is a newpaper hit as early as July 24, 1972. It's an AP story from
Paris where Jane had just arrived from Hanoi, but the "Hanoi Jane" isn't
part of the article. It's in a NC newspaper with the headline(almost
certainly written by a local copy editor) which says ['Hanoi Jane' Returns].
Was it already a meme in news circles, even if she hadn't gotten home yet?
Who knows.
